I was alone in a bar
on a cold winter's night
Loud was the music
dim was the light
I sat at a table
in the midst if the smoke
A glimpse of your beauty
and my interest awoke
On came the next song
so I took a chance
I took your hand in my own
and led you to dance
We circled the floor
we dipped and we swayed
and bumped into strangers
as the country beat played
Then suddenly it was over
almost before it had begun
The band finished playing
and our dance was done
I was dying to be close to you
this new friend I'd found
So I purchased a few drinks
and passed them around
We questioned each other
in simple conversation
the buzz from the alcohol
was my only salvation
The bar seemed too loud
so we spoke in each others ear
The excite was growing
to have you so near
The back of my head
embraced by your hand
Sweet breath in my ear
whispering plans
Your nose tickled my ear
as softly you spoke
Your scent a magic potion
that I choose to toke
The drinks took their toll
our speech was blurred
But your sensual voice
was all that I heard
Then the music stopped
the lights came all a glow
It's now closing time
and we all have to go
Finding our way to the door
your hand in mine
Then we're out on the street
the bar left behind
We're approached by women
who lost you earlier that night
They'd looked for you all over
and now had you in sight
They said you had to go
and you couldn't stay
I caught a fleeting glance
as they whisked you away
You jumped in their car
they gave you front seat
I watched the taillights fade
as you left down the street
I walk to my truck alone
annoyed by my plight
another bar room romance
on a cold Friday night
